Reflection Pond is situated in the bottom of a land bowl below the farmhouse and the cottage. It was built by damming a natural
stream fed by several springs. The pond is now a cheerful water activity for folks of all ages. Just watching the sky on the surface
of the water can be a most relaxing pastime, hence the name. Watching the wildlife can be amazing. Deer, foxes, turtles, herons,
ospreys, frogs and dozens of colorful dragonflies have been sited from the pond.
The small, funky boathouse is our way of avoiding the sun on hot summer days and staying out of the wind when the weather is cool.
Inside, a long bench and table and chairs allow for indoor picnicking, reading or writing, conversation, or just relaxing. Music
and lighting are available due to solar powering.
The pier along two sides of the boathouse is perfect for sitting in the sun or jumping in the water. Go ahead. A paddle-boat and
inner tubes are available for floating around and cooling off. In winter, the pond freezes, but we do not permit skating or walking
on the ice.
A charcoal grill is located outside near a picnic table and a large fire circle. This spot is fun for cookouts and roasting
marshmallows. A catwalk completes the circle over a marshy area for walking around the water's edge.
Stocked with bream and bass, the pond is a private fishing hole for our guests. If you catch one big enough to eat, you are
welcome to take it back to your kitchen for a fresh meal.
