The Nuthouse cottage is a 1,600 sq. ft. cottage located on a 45-acre farm in the Grassy Creek area of Ashe County. It is about 30
minutes west-northwest of Sparta, NC and 30 minutes north of Jefferson, NC. The location is quiet and private.
The cottage has two bedrooms upstairs, each with a queen-sized bed. The master bedroom features a gas fireplace while the second
bedroom has a crow's nest overhead, which is ideal for viewing the countryside or just relaxing with a good book or a glass of wine.
This area can also be used to sleep two additional persons on built-in seating when needed. The upstairs bathroom has a spacious,
fully-tiled walk-in shower with high windows to let in daylight and show the trees.
Downstairs, the living room has a wood-burning fireplace and a fully-equipped kitchen. A half-bath is located in the hall near the
kitchen entry next to the washer and dryer. One stack of firewood is located on the back porch. Additional firewood is available as
needed.
A wide, covered front porch has rockers and a table and chairs for outdoor dining. The small back porch has a table and two chairs
and overlooks the flower garden. Right off the back porch is a convenient gas grill.
Guests are welcome to explore the grounds which include our farmhouse (visible in winter but not when the leaves are on the trees)
our cut-flower and vegetable gardens, the trial vineyard and Reflection Pond with a boathouse. Also near the pond, a charcoal grill
and fire pit can be used for bonfires (when permitted) and cookouts. The pond is stocked with bass and bream.
We provide linens and paper goods for your convenience, but you will want to bring in some food supplies as well as personal items.
Shopping is about thirty minutes away.
The rate for weekend nights is $200 per night for one or two people, $240 for three or four. For longer term rentals, please call
us for reduced rates.
